Tallinn and Lahemaa National Park (Estonia)

(Monday 11 June 2007) by Lynda
Just got off my bike, spend a wonderful day in Lahemaa National park. It's in the north-east of Estonia and has a long stretch of deeply indented coast with several peninsulas and bays. We started at 10.00 this morning and cycled until 17.00 and we covered 30 kilometers. Not a lot because we stopped to look at beautiful manors and parks that are dotted along our route. The group was really nice, an Australian girl, Swiss guy, a Chinese guy and me. The only problem we had was that City bike tours that organized the trip forgot to put me on the list and the Australian girl decided this morning to join us so the minibus was already full so we squeezed in the back of the bus where normally only big packs are stored but it was only for 1 hour, although it looked a bit strange (a new way of smuggling immigrants into Estonia) we had a pretty good ride and the picture is really funny.

Had a great day and I really love Estonia, definitely want to come back here with my own car, roof down and tour around the country, so much easier to have your own wheels over here.

Got to go now, I've got an overnight bus to St. Petersburg to catch....... a bit nervous about the border crossings but the night crossings are supposed to be pretty quick because the border guards just want to go back to their card games and of course their vodka!!!!

Bye for now!
